Crypto Escape Rooms – The Infiltration
Crypto Escape Rooms is located in Newmarket, just off Davis Dr. on the 404. It’s on the upper floor of a building shared with a bowling alley. This time around we tackled the room with the #REDivas with with E4G’s Leader, BLung and Errol’s sister Lizette (and her daughter). When we arrived, we were greeted by GMs Chris and Stephen who were masterfully juggling their rooms.
Creativity and Design (aka its Fancy level): – Was it inventive ? Did it fit the theme?
Score : 5.0 of 5.0
The Crypto team has really stepped up their game. With the Infiltration the story was obvious and infront of you. As you make your way through the room, there is active narration which helps guide your team and provide direction. The tasks are story driven rather than just random puzzles (for the most part), which is rare in escape rooms.
For a room that has been played by local players for a few months, it still felt brand new and didn’t show any signs of wear and tear. The overall quality of the build and design of the room is almost flawless as well, which helps you dive into the immersiveness of the room.
Bells and Whistles: Was it just lockboxes throughout the Room?
Score: 5.0 of 5.0
Even though we’ve played rooms with heavier uses of tech, Team Crypto smartly uses it in ways that help accent the story and puzzles. We would consider this a generation 2 room (a room with little-to-no lockboxes) that is polished and well-tested, which is rare for this type of room. With that being said we didn’t have any tech issues with the room.
Intuitive (aka Frustration Level): Was it solvable? or Did you have to be inside the creators mind to solve it?
Score: 5.0 of 5.0
Our team of 8 was way more than enough for conquer this room, infact we’d probably recommend a group size of 4 to 6 to tackle it. We did not notice any direction issues or logic-leaps, infact we didn’t use a hint at all.
The hint system uses a walkie-talkie system, with unlimited hints.
Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?
Gamemasters Chris, Stephen and Richard were great to chat with. They have been fine-tuning this game for months before our return visit, and it shows. Their passion for making rooms really comes off in their enthusiasm and care they show in their work.
You can find their prices on their website! The price is definitely worth the experience.
Overall: The quality of The Infiltration puts Crypto as one of the must-see places in the GTA. With their third room still a few months down the line, we are eagerly anticipating something just as awesome.
