Bradford Escape Academy – The Interview
Bradford Escape Academy is located in Bradford, Ontario in a medical building near the downtown area. We had just finished a few games in Barrie, and wanted to hit one more on the way home.
Creativity and Design (aka its Fancy level): – Was it inventive ? Did it fit the theme?
Score : 3.0 of 5.0
The room wasn’t anything impressive, it was an office that was staged for an interview. It definitely suited the theme, however as we dug through the room, there were random props here and there that would make me question the type of office that would have these objects. The room does contain at least one surprise element, and the lighting definitely fit the theme. Overall it was an average room.
Bells and Whistles: Was it just lockboxes throughout the Room?
Score: N/A of 5.0
Tech lovers won’t have much to chew on here, the room was very basic and straightforward. There were several unique hand-crafted puzzles, however they didn’t fit the theme so well.
Intuitive (aka Frustration Level): Was it solvable? or Did you have to be inside the creators mind to solve it?
Score: 4.0 of 5.0
The puzzles for the most part were somewhat intuitive. Our team (particularly one member) understood the patterns in the room which lead to a relatively easy escape. There are a good mix of process puzzles and A-Ha puzzles, however the room still needed a few minor directions, and contained some obvious red herrings.
The hint system uses an ingame chat. You ask the GM through the chat for clues, we had no issues with this.
Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?
The GMs were friendly and surprised that we didn’t escape more quickly. They mentioned they had a new room coming out soon.
The price is $25.00 / Person, which is hard to compare against their neighbours since they don’t have any.
Overall: The Interview doesn’t measure up to the bulk of our experiences, but is a reasonable ‘fix’ if you are out in Bradford (potentially for Carrot Fest, which was the day we went).
