Mission Possible – Mafia Madness

Mission Possible is located in Burlington in a commercial complex just off the highway.  We were on our way back from Brantford with the #REDivas and decided to pop by to do a room.  At the time of our visit they had only been open for a month or so, but the GM’s were excited to show their stuff.  After a quick sign-in process the showed us the intro video.

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: If discount family restaurant was the goal, it hit the spot.

+ Half of the set design was reminiscent of a small family restaurant
– The other half was sort-of-not-really a kitchen, needs polish
+ The intro story and theme was unique
– the intro video definitely needs some upgrades

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: Nothing outstanding to point out, a simple gen-1 room.

+ One fun/simple mechanical puzzle, other than that it was straightforward gen 1

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary: The difficulty was pitched well and most new players should be able to escape.

+ Most of the puzzles were solvable with no hints
+ Responsive Hint system: Walkie Talkie call-in
– puzzle to story integration felt very random at times, especially the beginning.

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The Gamemasters were great to chat with.  It seems they have a good team of people in the background with a good grasp on what makes a fun room.

The price is $25 + tax / person, which for new players may be a fun experience.

Overall: A fun,  yet simple room.  If you are looking for a quick fix out of Toronto Mafia Madness might do the trick.  However if you’re tried the city’s best, you might be left wanting for more.
