Panic Factory – Krampus

Panic Factory is located in Courtice Ontario, in a strip plaza on King St.  We were with the other #REDivas (Errol and Manda), to try this seasonal room, infact we GoPro’ed it (another one of Errol’s ideas).

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: Well designed and simple. They made the most of their space.

+ Good set design choices that enhanced the immersion
+ Great audio cues that help set the mood and had a practical use as well.
+ A quality fireplace made from scratch, we almost believed it was an actual one.

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: Not alot of tech uses, but well done on the parts that were.

+ Not a tech heavy room, but good uses for environmental effects
+ We appreciated the puzzle with the rotating pictures.  A simple mechanical design.

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary:  Simple and fun puzzles!

+ Responsive Hint system: Gamemasters give clues based on player request
+ The puzzles provided enough direction, we didn’t struggle with them

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The Gamemasters Ray and Nick were a pleasure to chat with.  You can tell they have a real passion for escape rooms.  They gave us a sneak peek into their other rooms and we were already eager to play them.

The price is $22 / person, which for the quality of the immersion and smooth gameplay was worth it.

Overall:  Overall we are not fans of season rooms as they usually lack the same effort seen in permanent rooms.  Krampus is the exception to the rule, it is definitely a step above the rest.  If it comes by again, give it a try and let us know what you think.
