Looking Glass Adventures – Operation Flamingo

Looking Glass Adventures is located on the Danforth near Victoria Park.  Looking Glass has changed locations, and to our glee has new rooms and MORE SPACE!  We’ve been struggling to make time to visit them but finally saw them a few weeks ago.  This time around we went with Team KPop, who are powerhouse solvers (and escape room owners) and definitely people you need on your team.  We were greeted by the new staff and our friend GM Christine who took the time to show us their facility.

Long story short: You are special agents infiltrating a retirement home, the resident has set up an elaborate security system.

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: Little quirks that work well with a unique theme

+ Unique and fun set design and props
+ fun surprises right up until the end
+ effective environment tech uses that amplify the experience

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary:  If you can make ‘complex’ tech work, you can make anything work

+ simple tech was effective and worked well
+ ‘complex’ tech was well executed with no hiccups (most ERs have trouble with it)

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary:  The puzzles definitely show polish

+ Straightforward puzzles, mostly task-based
+ No leaps of logic, even the most complex puzzles had visual aids
+ The hint system used a walkie talkie but we didn’t need any
* The room recommends 4 people with ‘agility’ for a reason.

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The staff at Looking Glass is always phenomenal and friendly, it almost feels like coming home when we’re visiting them.  GM Christine has been working day-and-night to get the new facility going and her hard work shows.

Overall: Looking Glass Adventures is always one of our most recommended places in the GTA (Greater Toronto Area) for families.  Although with a room like Operation Flamingo I’m happy to recommend that to ANY player looking for a good time.
