Alpha Escape – Check-Inn Only

Alpha Escape is located in Newmarket as a single unit in a strip plaza.  We heard about this escape from some friends who live in the area.  We had with us “Team Bammer” which was #REDivas + E4G’s Leader + Benson + emspace with us.  As with all new locations we were hopeful, but cautious.

Long story short: You are investigators looking into mysterious murders…

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: A solid attempt at immersion

+ For the most part, the room was well designed.  Good props throughout
+ The room was highly interactive, most of the props are used.
– missing some finishing touches that would enhance immersion

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: High and low tech solutions were fun

+ No tech hiccups
+ fun and intuitive gameplay components.
+ The last puzzle has a low-tech but creative puzzle.

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary:  Straightforward game with no complaints.

+ An in-game indication for how many hints you’ve used
+ The game was easy enough that we didn’t need any hints, we ended up getting the record for the room.

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The GM were friendly and excited to talk about their rooms.  Their Lobby was a bit drafty for a winter day, but we all had our coats on anyway.

Overall:  Check-Inn Only was a good first attempt at a room for Alpha Escapes, with some more polish they could stand out better.
