Labyrinth Escape Rooms – The Labyrinth

Labyrinth Escape Rooms is located in Aurora in the upper floor of an office complex.  This was our second outing to this location, and this time we had the #REDivas + E4G’s Leader + Benson with us.  We didn’t know what to expect coming back since our last experience wasn’t spectacular, but we were hopeful.

Long story short: You are trapped in a futuristic video game, now make your way out before the virus has you deleted.

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: Fun! Unique!

+ A fun and unique design, unless you hate LEDs
+ The room felt solid in design, with low risk of breakage.
+ A sci-fi experience that resembles being trapped in a 80’s video game
+ many of the components felt “game-like”, but it could also be because of the bright colourful lights

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: Random, but still fun.

+ No tech hiccups
+ fun gameplay mechanics used throughout the room
+ Lots of tech uses, that were somewhat random, but fit in with the randomness of the theme

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary:  A great game for testing teamwork

+ The hint system used a walkie talkie, we had no issues
+ mostly task-based puzzles, which were straightforward
+ teamplay is encouraged with a large number of tasks in the room.
– we needed a hint for the final puzzle, it definitely needed more direction.

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The GM were friendly and overall we had nothing to complain about their service.

The price was $25 / person, which is reasonable for the experience

Overall:  The Labyrinth almost feels like the “Cult Classic” of escape rooms, you didn’t expect it to be good, but it was surprisingly fun.  Definitely worth checking out if you are in this neck of the woods.
