PTBO Escape – The Pharaoh’s Curse
PTBO Escape is located in Peterborough Ontario in Lansdowne Place Mall, they are owned and operated by the team at Escape Maze. Because we knew this, we were eager to swing into town to visit the Escape Maze team and try out their latest and greatest. With us was Team Kpop, who are Owner/Enthusiasts as well.
Long Story Short: Find the Cursed artifacts and seal them away!
Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: A fun office-type escape
+ A simple, yet effective set design
+ Solid props and interesting puzzle uses.
Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: Good uses of tech that didn’t take away from the theme
+ No tech hiccups
+ Good uses of electrical and mechanical components
Intuitive: Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary: Good challenging puzzles, be prepared to use a hint
+ The puzzles were intuitive and well themed
+ The most challenging room at PTBO, but it was fair
+ There was no major logic leaps
Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?
The GMs at PTBO have the same charm and enthusiasm as the ones that work at the main Escape Maze location (usually a mark of a business worth visiting).
Overall: PTBO Escape delivers the mainstream themes from the braintrust of Escape Maze. The Pharaoh’s Curse is a fun start for anyone wanting to dip their toe into an Egyptian theme.
