Escape Room Barrie – Simcoe Arms

Escape Room Barrie is located in Barrie, Ontario.  We ventured out to Barrie to try something new and get away from the city for a while.  We had with us Team Awesome, who are escape room owners and expert players.

Long story short: Your elevator just stopped on the 13th floor.. and now the mystery begins.

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: An overall good storytelling experience

+ good decor and effort in the set design
+ good storytelling through the progression of the room
– not the best games we’ve seen, but definitely the best in Barrie.

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: No hiccups, no problems

+ No tech hiccups
+ intuitive gameplay elements
+ one interesting game element we haven’t come across before

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary:  Most puzzles fair and for the most part fun.

+ We didn’t struggle with most of the puzzles
+ We only required one hint for one minor logic leap

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The GM were friendly and knew some people in our group, so we chatted a bit about their journey.

Overall:  Escape Room Barrie delivers a relatively solid experience for a small town.  With their design team, we’re hopeful for their future rooms as they put out a good experience for their opening rooms.
