Omescape – Defend the magic academy

Omescape Scarborough is located in Scarborough, just off the 401 and Kennedy.  This time we had the super team “Team Awesome” joining us.  This is the “final” (as far as we know) room at the Scarborough location,

Long story short: You are academy students with the mission to reseal a portal in your school, before it unleashes evil creatures.

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: Amazing and creative set design.  

+ High quality set design, which feels like it was taken from a ‘magic’ academy
+ Environmental sounds and effects are superb, from beginning to end

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary:  Tech used in all the right places

+ Great immersive use of tech, that ties into the theme
+ Some tech was used to intensify the environment
+ A great teamwork mechanic that ties into the theme.
+ no tech hiccups

Intuitive:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary: Straightforward and not too heavy for a 90 minute room

+ Most puzzles were clear on what needed to be done, we didn’t need any hints
+ Heavily task-based, could be played by beginners, but must be played with at least 4

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The staff and gamemasters were friendly as always.  With all their games complete, we can easily say that all the games here meet the high standards that Omescape has set for itself.  If you need to impress someone on a high quality room, you can’t go wrong with any room here (but maybe aim for an easier room).

Overall:  We definitely appreciate the effort that went into designing The Magic Academy.  A thoroughly fun experience and worth seeing if you are a fan of their work.
