Escape Maze – Rosie’s Tavern

Escape Maze is located in Peterborough Ontario on farmland.  During the Summer they hosted an Escape Maze Enthusiast Day, which had a flat rate where you could play ALL THEIR ROOMS in a single day (so how could we refuse).  In our second room of the day we did it with Team Freeing, who are great at solving rooms as they are building them.

Long story short: You find your way into Rosie’s Tavern, but it seems a mystery is unravelling.

Creativity and Design: Did it sell the story / theme?
Summary: A great focus on story and narrative and the set design was great

+ A great take on a ‘old timey’ saloon.
+ solid props, that don’t feel out of place
+ great background story and build-up through the room

Bells and Whistles: Was it more than lockboxes?
Summary: Tech enthusiasts won’t have alot to chew on in this room

+ not many mechanical or electrical components in the room

Intuitive
:  Did you have to be inside the designer’s mind to solve it?
Summary:  Emphasis on applying puzzles to story and it works nicely in this case

+ Great focus on puzzles that tie nicely into the story
+ The puzzles were straightforward and provided enough direction
+ the hint system calls in a GM to ask for hints

Staff Support/Price : Were they friendly? Were they helpful? What was the Damage?

The GMs were fantastic as always, probably some of the friendliest people we’ve come across in 3 years of escaping..

The price you can find on their website .

Overall: A great story driven room.  You can’t play it anymore, however its design has carried on to Escape Maze’s newer rooms.
